Not missing anything. Won't boot in a VM for me neither. The image fails to write to a USB with Balena/Rufus too.

Can't get the iso to work on just regular PC. Balena writes .iso successfully but doesn't boot, Rufus says ISO image extraction failure at somewhere around 95% as indicated by attached picture

Yup exact same experience with Rufus. Balena fails to write for me too.

Yup exact same experience with Rufus. Balena fails to write for me too.

Balena only failed for me when I inadvertently tried to write the compressed file (.iso.xz) instead of uncompressing and trying with the resulting .iso file. Did you try both latest and 1.22 image files? Not sure if the versions are different but the file sizes are.

Edit: I've tried both with balena and Rufus. Same results.

Can confirm the same under proxmox, using both the 1.2.2 and latest isos.
