This is the GitHub organization page for the Homestuck Music Wiki! A quick intro to the main repositories here:
- hsmusic-wiki: Codebase for the
hsmusic
static wiki software. This has all the code for the music wiki (and other wikis built with it), issue tracking for planned features and known bugs, and pull requests documenting technical aspects behind updates and additions. - hsmusic-data and hsmusic-media: Data and media repositories for hsmusic.wiki! In addition to hsmusic-wiki, these are the repositories you need to actually build and run the music wiki. You can use these to have a complete offline copy on your own computer, and to directly contribute through pull requests, too.
- hsmusic-lang: Current localizations for the hsmusic-wiki software. Contributions here are done through a big Google Sheets document, but the latest versions of all localizations, ready to use with hsmusic-wiki, are public here.
- hsmusic-docs: Various handy documents describing the data format used in hsmusic-data (and other hsmusic repositories), plus guidelines describing the way the Homestuck music wiki does its own stuff.
This organization hosts repositories for some other wikis made with the hsmusic-wiki software:
- skeleton-wiki: A handy template for starting brand new wikis off of.
- utdrmusic-wiki, utdrmusic-data, and utdrmusic-media - Undertale/Deltarune Music Wiki: https://utdr.hsmusic.wiki
- sonicomix-wiki and sonicomix-content - Sonic Comics Wiki: https://sonicomix.hsmusic.wiki
And some miscellaneous repos to do with the music wiki:
- bc-art: Python-based tool for nabbing full-resolution artwork from albums off Bandcamp. A very convenient utility for the music wiki's preservation efforts!
- fefeta-bot: It's the bot that mods use to let you into HSMusic's Discord server!
- hsmusic.github.io: Truly ancient repo where the wiki used to be hosted before it got its own domain.
The Homestuck Music Wiki's development is assisted by Fastly through their Fast Forward program, which directly supports hosting hsmusic.wiki on the web and serving it around the world.
We count on DigitalOcean to serve the origin server for hsmusic.wiki and to statically host the wiki's actual HTML. We preserve 5+ years of detailed wiki discussion with
Discord and depend on them to host our Discord server, which is the main community space related to HSMusic, and essential to our project. And of course, we host our repositories, issue trackers, and pull requests all here on
We interact and share communally with a lot of people and spaces who are, or have been, part of Homestuck's fandom, and the Homestuck Music Wiki itself is a proud and confident fanproject; however, we are independent of and function separately from other groups of fans or official Homestuck projects.
Speaking as QN, aka @towerofnix: We accept small, personal donations to help with hosting and domain expenses, and receive support in the form of services and bandwidth from Fastly. However, we put our own time into the wiki's development, data collaboration, and community (alongside a part-time job) and pay expenses out of pocket where applicable or necessary. And all community contributions to the Homestuck Music Wiki are volunteered and unpaid; we are endlessly grateful for their passion and interest, without which the music wiki's ever-lively creation and development would be impossible.
